Tweens

The preteen years, also known as the tween years, are a unique and transformative time in a child’s life. Typically spanning from ages 9-12, these years mark the transition from childhood to adolescence. Preteens are caught in between the carefree innocence of childhood and the growing responsibilities and complexities of teenage years. Physically, they are experiencing rapid growth and hormonal changes that can cause mood swings and confusion. Emotionally, they may struggle with finding their identity and fitting in with their peers. This is also a time when they start to develop their own interests and passions, paving the way for their future. Socially, preteens may begin to navigate more complex relationships with friends and family members.

Academically, they may take on more challenging coursework and start to think about their future education and career goals. Overall, the preteen years are a crucial developmental stage that sets the foundation for the teenage years and beyond. It is a time filled with both excitement and uncertainty as preteens navigate the path towards adulthood.
